Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Acclaimed American Classic

CHICAGO (October 18, 2010) - On Saturday, October 30, Steppenwolf Theatre
Company will present a touch tour and audio described performance of To Kill
a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, dramatized by Christopher Sergel and
directed by Hallie Gordon. The production features ensemble member Alan
Wilder with Abu Ansari, Carolyn Defrin, James D. Farruggio, Caroline

Set in Alabama during the Great Depression, To Kill a Mockingbird follows
the journey of Jem and Scout Finch, whose father has been appointed to
defend Tom Robinson, a black man accused of assaulting a white woman. As the
trial progresses, Jem and Scout witness their community in a tense tug of

will feature an artistic discussion about the play and its visual elements
with Director Hallie Gordon, as well as an opportunity to explore the stage
and set. Guests will also have a chance to meet the cast, who will introduce
their characters in the play. At 3 pm, Steppenwolf will present the audio
described performance of To Kill a Mockingbird.

Playbills in Braille, audio and large print formats are available for this
performance.

of Freedom by George W. Bush in 2007. Christopher Sergel's stage adaptations
