Hi Scott, great hearing from you. 

 

We’re currently wrapping up what I hope is the final round of alpha testing. My hope is that this won’t be any longer than 2 or 3 weeks.

 

When we’re ready to move on to the beta round, I’ll send all the new-comers an invitation to an email list which will let the testers converse with each other, much like the BARD Mobile list. This list will contain a link where you can download the software, then the fun can begin.

 

I’m still looking for testers, so if you know anyone who might be interested let me know. I’m hoping for testers with varying skill levels, so keep that in mind.

Hello Testers, this is Don Olson reaching out from NLS.

 

We are nearing the completion of a new, Windows-based software, that will provide patrons with an alternative to the existing BARD interface. Why the alternative interface? This software will accomplish two goals:

 

1.      To give patrons who are not comfortable using a web interface, a more command-driven experience to explore and download audio books and magazines from BARD.

 

2.      Simplification of the file management process such as unzipping books and magazines, and transferring the files onto a cartridge to be played with the NLS Digital Talking Book Machine.

 

Testing should begin sometime in mid-March.
