Subject: Accessing the New Washington/Wabash Rail Station Opening 8-31-17
Importance: High

Hello Everyone:

Great News!

The new accessible rail station at Washington and Wabash will open on
Thursday, August 31, 2017. Just as an FYI, I thought the following
information would be helpful.

*	The station is similar in service to Adams and Wabash in so far as
customers can enter the station from either the east or west side of Wabash.
*	Northbound (NB) Brown and Harlem Green Line Trains run on the
eastside tracks and southbound Pink, Orange, Ashland/63rd Green and Purple
Line Express trains run on the westside tracks.
*	Customers can go from street level to the Mezzanine level from
either the east or west side of Wabash Avenue. Once fares are paid,
customers may select either northbound or southbound platforms to access
trains.
*	There are 2 elevators that run from street level to Mezzanine level
and then 2 other elevators that run from Mezzanine level to the platform.
*	Getting to the Mezzanine level from street level on the EAST side of
Wabash:

*	There are stairs, an escalator and an elevator on this side of the
street.
*	The stairs and escalator are near the southeast corner of Washington
and Wabash.
*	The elevator is a bit more south of the corner then the stairs and
escalator.
*	If you are facing the elevator, the call button is on the left and
Braille information is to the right.
*	There are also stairs about mid-block (going south towards Madison
Street).
*	The stairs nearest the northeast corner of Madison and Wabash are
exit only stairs.

*	Getting to the Mezzanine level from street level on the WEST side of
Wabash:

*	There are stairs and an elevator on this side of the street.
*	The stairs are near the southwest corner of Washington and Wabash.
*	The elevator is mid-block between Washington and Madison on the west
side of Wabash.
*	If you are facing the elevator, the call button is on the left and
Braille information is to the right.
*	There are also stairs about mid-block (going south towards Madison
Street).
*	The stairs nearest the northwest corner of Madison and Wabash are
exit only stairs.

* Getting from the Mezzanine level to the Platform.

*	There are 2 other elevators that go from the Mezzanine to the
Platform.
*	There are 2 Customer Service Assistant (CSA) Kiosks, CSA Call
Buttons, Ventra Fare Vending Machines, visual tracking information signs and
accessible gates on the Mezzanine level. All of these items are located near
both the Washington Street side, as well as the Madison Street side of the
Station.
*	As soon as a fare is paid, customers can get to either northbound or
southbound trains from the Mezzanine level.
*	All of the elevators on the Mezzanine and Platform levels (inside
the station) have the call button and Braille information on the right hand
side.
*	When using the Mezzanine to Platform level elevator on the east
side, going northbound, customers exit onto the Platform nearer to where the
1st car of the train will stop.
*	When using the Mezzanine to Platform level elevator on the west
side, going southbound, customers exit onto the Platform nearer to where the
end of the train will stop. If the 1st car is preferred, continue walking
south on the Platform towards Madison Street.

*	On the Platform level, there are CSA Call Buttons on both the
northbound and southbound platforms. There are also visual tracking
information signs and the wind-breaker areas.
*	There are extended canopies that cover almost the full length of the
Platforms to protect against inclement weather. The Platforms are nice and
wide for anyone using a mobility device or service animal and there is
enhanced lighting throughout the entire station.

These are just a few items I thought would assist in providing easier access
to this new station. Anyone having questions is welcome to call me at any of
the numbers listed below.

You are also welcome to forward this information as desired.

Thank you and happy transit.
