Garfield Station 63rd-bound Platform Elevator Out of Service

 

Green Line, Red Line (rush periods only)

 

Monday, August 13, 2018 to Monday, January 07, 2019

How does this affect my trip? 
The Ashland/63rd- and Cottage Grove-bound platform elevator at the Garfield
station will be temporarily out of service.

Entry/exiting to/from the Garfield 63rd-bound platform will be available by
stairs only.

For accessible boarding/exiting of 63rd-bound Green Line trains: use the
adjacent accessible 51st station. OR, for 63rd-bound service from Garfield,
take a Harlem-bound train to 51st station and transfer to a 63rd-bound
train.

Customers may also use the #3 King Drive bus, paralleling the Green Line,
for service to/from downtown, or from 51st station (board #3 buses on King
Drive, 1-1/2 blocks east of 51st station); or, the #55 Garfield bus,
connecting to Red Line trains at the accessible Garfield Red Line station.

Note: A bus shuttle will be provided between Garfield and 51st stations
during certain other types of service impacts during the project. See other
alerts for dates and times when this occurs. 

The elevator is estimated to return to service on Monday, January 7, 2019
(date subject to change).

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed? 
We are performing station construction to improve the Garfield station as
part of the  <https://www.transitchicago.com/garfieldgateway/> Garfield
Gateway Project.
