Dear Denise,

Very glad that we are coordinating this. I suspect they will be seeking
input from the blind community. Maybe we should plan a premeting like we
have done in the past so we give consistent messaging? It can help all of
our members to give an update before we attend these.

What do you think?

Dear Patti,
I have recently spoken to our national office. We are not taking any
position. However, we have been at the meetings regarding implementation of
these signals to make sure they are placed in spots where needed, are
uniform, are not disruptive, and provides information on demand. Steve has
just followed up as a result of that conversation.

Are we talking with our national office. I believe that Maurice Peret is
working on this. We should plan a position for all representing NFB to take
which is consistent with our national work. Our voice is stronger when
united.

As we discussed earlier today, Commissioner Karen Tamley, Mayor's Office for
People with Disabilities (MOPD), plans to do a broader outreach to the blind
community some time after Monday, July 15, during that week, at City Hall,
from 4 to 7 PM. She also proposes to send me the latest work from the
Chicago Department of Transportation regarding the intersections it selected
and related criteria for the proposed locations of Accessible Pedestrian
Signals. She wants organizations to publicize the work from CDOT.

Cordially, Steve
