Greetings fellow federationists,

Our 2019 legislative priorities are gaining national momentum but Illinois has yet to get co-sponsors in the House. It is important that we begin visiting our representatives to gain support for our initiatives while they are in district. In-district appointments are essential to gaining co-sponsorship because as constituents, we can tell our legislator in-person how their support will impact our lives.

Please take some time at the end of this month (May 24-June 3) while the House is in recess to visit your U.S. representatives and tell them how HR 873, Transformation to competitive Employment Act and HR 2086, Access Technology Affordability Act will remove artificial barriers to education and employment for blind residents of Illinois.

Reach out to me for information about how to get in contact with your U.S. rep to make an in-district appointment, reach out to get information about sending an e-mail or making a telephone call to your local office regarding our legislative priorities, or reach out to get more information on how these bills will positively impact how we live, learn and lead.

Let's go build the National Federation of the Blind...

Sincerely,

Marilyn Green
