Greetings fellow federationists,
We are gaining momentum in the House of Representatives with our
Access Technology bill but we cannot allow this small victory to allow
us to become complacent.
Please reach out to your U.S. Representative with an e-mail or phone
call saying something like, "Hello, my name is ________ and I am a
constituent of Representative ________. I live in (city, state) . I am
e-mailing/calling to urge Representative ________ to cosponsor H.R.
2086, the Access Technology Affordability Act. This legislation
removes an employment barrier commonly experienced by blind Americans
who cannot afford the high cost of access technology by creating a
refundable tax credit in the amount of $2,000 to offset the cost of
these technologies. I urge Representative ________ to cosponsor the
bill. Thank you."
You can contact your member of Congress by calling the Capitol
Switchboard and asking for the office in question. The number is
202-224-3121. If you email your representative, please copy Marilyn
Green at marilynvgreen at gmail.com. Your calls and emails do make a
difference.
Let's go build the National Federation of the Blind,
Marilyn Green
