Braille Processor

 

Horizons for the Blind is seeking a talented professional to join our team
in Crystal Lake, IL. We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and
diligent Braille reader to join the Braille Processing Department. The
candidate will be responsible for editing, copying and processing braille
documents. 

 

If you are a proficient braille reader, you may be interested in this
opportunity. You will be a valued team member, responsible for helping us to
provide our clients with the highest quality braille reading material for
people who are blind or visually impaired.

 

Responsibilities:

-     Accepts production assignments requiring conversion from print to
braille; takes projects from earliest stage to completion; offers
appropriate suggestions for braille output; performs related duties as
assigned.

-     Building positive workplace attitudes

-     Interacting with others in an office environment 

 

Skill Requirements:

-     Strong verbal and written communication skills

-     Knowledge of braille and braille codes

-     Proficient in Microsoft Word, Duxbury and other office and/or braille
related software.

-     Phone etiquette

to improving the quality of life for people who are blind or visually
impaired by increasing accessibility to consumer products and services,
education, recreation and the cultural arts.

 

Job Type: Full-time

Work hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Starting wage: $10.50/hour
