The people who are in attendance are; Ellen Bartelt, Ryan Williams, Bill Reif, Debbie Stein, Leslie Hamric, Linda Hendle, Debbie Pittman, Danny Mandrell, Yvonne Agyarko, Brigid Burke, David Meyer, Sara Luna, and Natalie Shaheen. The minutes were voted on and approved from the April and March meetings. Debby Stein led everyone in the sighting of the NFB pledge. There was not any decision made who would lead the members in the pledge next meeting.
Warm Fuzzies: Members shared what they are thankful for during the shutdown and the stay at home order. Many members are thankful they can call into meetings and hear a warm and familiar voices.
National Presidential Report: The live presidential report could be listen to on Friday May 1 at 7:00 PM. Members decided that they listened to the report on Friday night, so did not need to hear it again.
State Presidential Report: The BELL Program will be taking place in students homes. Volunteers will be checking in with students throughout the program to see how they are doing. There will be three sessions of the In Home BELL Program. The first session will take place from June 1 to June 12. The second session will take place from June 23 to July 3. The third session will take place from July 27 to August 7. If you would want to help in any way reach out to Debby Stein. NFBI will be switching over to zoom in the next couple of weeks. All of the chapter presidents have the information and guidelines to host zoom meetings. National Convention will take place from July 14 to July 18. The convention is being shorten by one day. The convention will take place through a virtual platform. The national office is still figuring out the details for what platform that will be used during the convention. Remember to register for national convention online at nfb.org/convention. There is not any cost to register for the convention. There is new information being posted to the listserv about the virus and many resources are listed about the state of Illinois.
Programing: The chapter is asked how they can help out in some way with national convention. Members discussed how they can teach other states about starting an at large chapter. This was thought of because many members would like to attend meetings, but do not have a way to get to them. Members asked what was in the treasury and how it helps the chapter. The chapter will need more information to bring the idea to the national convention. There also was some discussion on how disability centers are supposed to help students with class projects. There was a member on the call who is having a hard time completing a class project where they need to make a video.
New and Old Business: There was not any new or old business. Meeting was adjourned at 8:28 PM.
May Minutes Signed by Ellen Bartelt Secretary.
