Subject: CTA Buses Resume Front Door Boarding for All Customers on Sunday,
June 21, 2020
Importance: High

Good Afternoon:

Please note that as of this coming Sunday, June 21, 2020 the CTA will
reinstate front door bus boarding. Rear door boarding will no longer be an
option.

There are several safety measures that the CTA has implemented to keep
customers, as well as Bus Operators safe.

The Illinois Governor has instituted a statewide policy that face masks that
cover an individual's nose and mouth needs to be worn in all public places
which includes on public transit premises and vehicles. The CTA wants all
customers to follow this state directive. This is especially significant if
you require more one-on-one assistance such as securement of your mobility
device or guide assistance in locating a seat. (Individuals with
disabilities who are unable to wear a mask for medical or other reasons
related to the nature of their disability may be excused).

Other initiatives the CTA is taking to keep all riders and staff safe
include:

*	Providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Operators,
including: face coverings, face shields or goggles, hand sanitizer and
gloves.
*	Instituting passenger capacity limits on bus (15 riders on a
standard 40' bus and 22 riders on an articulated 60' bus) and allowing
operators to run "drop-off only" if the bus reaches its passenger capacity
limit.
*	Additional buses added to some routes to help eliminate
overcrowding.
*	The roping off of some seats to promote social distancing. (Anyone
needing the Priority Seating Area will still be able to access those seats).
*	Plexiglass shields which protect both the Bus Operator, as well as
customers as they enhance social distancing.
*	The implementation of the Ridership Information Dashboard, an online
tool on CTA's website -- transitchicago.com - that shows trends when a
particular bus route may be less busy. This may help customers decide the
best times to travel.
*	Building on our existing cleaning regimen of cleaning every bus
before it leaves for daily service, cleaning high-touch surfaces while the
bus is in service, and routine deep cleans. CTA further enhanced its
rigorous cleaning protocols with new electrostatic sprayers to support deep
cleaning efforts and testing new cleaning products.

These added procedures will assist in keeping both employees and customers
safe as the CTA continues to provide access to all of its transportation
services.

Thank you.
