Good evening, this is Glenn Moore, Treasurer of the Illinois Association of
Blind Students.
Do you know a blind or low-vision kid whose outstanding academic excellence
deserves a standing ovation?
Have you heard a TVI tell about the positive, expectation-shattering things
one of their students has been doing?
Well, don't keep it to yourself--IABS' Student of Excellence Award contest
is on!
IABS is seeking nominations for blind or low-vision students between 6th
and 11th grades in an Illinois school who exemplify academic dedication,
inspire and lead in the classroom, and give to their community while
sharing their can-do attitude to blindness. Our Nomination Form is attached
(and can be found soon at NFBofIllinois.org), but please hurry--forms must
be returned by midnight, September 25th at:
GMoore3rd at gmail.com
or arrive by the deadline to PO Box 1065, Elgin, IL 60121
Winners will be invited to the award ceremony at the IABS Luncheon,
Saturday, October 29th, during the NFBI State convention, held in the
Chicago Marriott Naperville. These deserving students will receive a
Braille certificate, gift card and may also be awarded financial assistance
for room accommodations to attend.
Questions or additional details can be directed to me (contacts are in my
signature).
We look forward to finding out about what makes these kids excellent
students, and can't wait to share their story with everyone!
