Ready or not, December is upon us! This is a busy, busy month for everyone. I hope everyone enjoys this holiday season - time with family and friends, the music, the shopping, the goodies, and everything that makes this time of year special for you. Speaking of special, read on . . . .

OUR ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

Saturday, December 13th. - The Blackhawk Chapter Christmas Party & Dinner at Christ United Methodist Church located at 3801 7th. Street in East Moline. Please be at the church by 5:30 PM. Dinner will be served at 6:00 PM, and the party will end at approximately 8:30 PM.

We will enjoy a night of good fellowship and a great meal. We will have our usual silent auction of baked goods, many door prizes, and a 50-50 raffle.

Again this year, we would appreciate donations of baked goods for the silent auction. Please bring them the night of the party.

GRAHAM CRACKER BARS

(Chocolate Toffee Bars)

1 cup sugar

1 cup butter

1 cup chopped nuts

1 pkg. graham crackers

6-7 Hershey bars or comparable amount of choc. chips

1 tablespoon of butter or butter spray (for pan)

Butter flat 9x12 pan and line with graham cracker squares. Mix sugar and butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it boils. Boil 2 minutes - no longer. Add nuts. Pour this mixture over the graham crackers and spread evenly. Bake for 10 minutes at 350*. Remove from oven. Place chocolate bars or chips on top to melt. Spread to cover. Cut while warm - will be gooey. They will firm up as they cool.

Next month, I'll try to have something a little less sweet - something more figure friendly!
