Hi Joe

As Il-Talk list moderator, I recommended Robert Hansen be removed from the
list. The action was taken by Dave Andrews, but I'm not sure he waited for
my recommendation.

First of all, Mr. Hansen denigrated people in an extreme way, and that won't
be tolerated on the list.

Secondly, we have freedom of speech on the list and in this country, but
society puts limits on what speech is acceptable, based on the social
setting. If Mr. Hansen had read his message aloud in a restaurant, he
probably would have been kicked out. If he had read his message aloud on
TV, he probably would have been fined. If he'd read his message in a
church, I don't know what would have happened. The bottom line is obscene
language of the sort he used in his message is not universally tolerated,
and it won't be tolerated on the list.

And finally, I wrote personally to Mr. Hansen explaining his transgressions
as I saw them. I asked him to respond to me, to give me reasons why he
shouldn't be removed from the list. He never responded.

Talk to you later,
Bob
