This woman did not say she asked the man if he needed help, so we don't know if she did.  I think both of them were rude, quite honestly.  
I believe I have mentioned this before on-list.  Mary Ellen Reihing Gabios always asked, "Can I help you?" to someone who grabbed her.  I always thought it was good way to handle the situation.
