It's April and spring has sprung! I hope that you are enjoying the wonderful weather that we have been having. Don't forget to come to our next chapter meeting on Saturday. We're all looking forward to seeing you there.
THIS MONTH'S MEETING
Our meeting will be held on Saturday, April 10th at 1:30PM, at the South Moline Township Center at 637 17th Avenue in East Moline.
The program will be a demonstration of the new digital book players now being distributed by the Mid-Illinois Talking Book Center. Bob Gardner and Lois Montgomery will show both the standard model book player and the advance model book player. These new talking book players are the way of the future, and will be replacing the cassette players used since the 1960s.
LAST MONTH'S MEETING
The meeting last month featured a presentation by Becky Passman, Iowa QC Transit Coordinator of the Bi-state Regional Commission. Becky talked about the public bus system on the Iowa side of the Quad-Cities with particular emphasis on the new "Loop," a bus route that loops around cities on both sides of the river in the evening. The loop bus route allows people to visit various restaurants and other night spots in Moline, Bettendorf, Davenport, and Rock Island using public transportation.

As in the past, those interested in practicing their mobility skills will ride the bus from Center Station in Moline to Rock Island, then walk a block to the restaurant.
June 12: We will have our annual potluck/picnic at the home of the Gardner's in Hampton. As usual, besides great food and fellowship, we will talk about the long white cane used for mobility, and we will do some walking around beautiful, downtown Hampton. Stay tuned for further details.
July 3-8: NFB National Convention in Dallas, Texas. If you are interested in attending, contact Bob Gardner for further details. It's not too early to make hotel reservations.

RECIPE CORNER
Please submit your favorite recipes. You can give written recipes to me at the chapter meetings, send them email (address in letterhead), or mail them to me at: P.O. Box 191, Hampton, IL 61256. Thanks! Nancy
The following recipe was submitted by Bob Gardner. At this point, he hasn't actually made these chicken wings, but he says he likes this recipe. It seems like a recipe that should be easy for a blind person to follow. If you make these wings before he does, please let him know what you think.
Baked Buffalo Wings
3/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
20 chicken wings
· Place the flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt into a resealable plastic bag, then shake to mix.
· Add the chicken wings, seal, and toss until well coated with the flour mixture.
· Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and lightly grease with cooking spray.
· Place the wings onto the prepared baking sheet, and place into the refrigerator. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
Whisk together in a bowl:
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup hot pepper sauce
· Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
· Dip the wings into the butter/hot sauce mixture, and place back on the baking sheet.
· Bake in the oven until the chicken is crispy on the outside. That should be about 45 minutes. Turn the wings over halfway through so they cook evenly and are crispy all over.
