As most of you know, the NFB is in the midst of its Braille Readers Are Leaders annual contest. This contest started on Nov 1 and will go through Jan 4. Individuals are encouraged to push themselves to read as many pages of Braille as possible during the contest.
For the second year, the NFB BRAL contest has an adult division. Those adults who participate, and want to submit the number of pages read can update their progress on the "Leader Board." And yes, Illinois can be proud! The results on the Leader Board, posted as of Dec 10, show the following, based on input from the entire U.S.:
Beginner Category
Kelly Doty, 2nd place
Intermediate Category
Lois Montgomery, 2nd place
Denise Avant, 3rd place
Sighted Category
Veronica Bargehr, 2nd place
Note that 3 members of the LIFE Team -- Kelly, Lois, & Denise --one of the teams from Illinois in the Adult Team of the Year contest are on the Leader Board. Wow, we're doing great!
