[il-talk] Fw: [blparent] The latest on Baby Micaela

To fill in the background, Baby Micaela was born to a blind couple in
Missouri on May 21 of this year. When her mother asked a nurse for help
with breastfeeding, the nurse called in social services. Claiming that the
parents did not have an appropriate "plan" for caring for their daughter,
the social worker at the hospital called upon child protective services and
the baby was placed in foster care. Tragically, this story demonstrates
that we need a bill in Illinois to protect blind parents from this sort of
treatment.
