It's time for legislative action again! Please consider contacting our senators as described below. Note that there is a sample E-mail which you can tailor to suit yourself. If we don't act on this and similar actions, I'm afraid in the future us in the blind community are going to be put into the category of those "not worth worrying about."

Urgent Message to RFB&D® Members, Parents and Supporters
Students with print disabilities need your help!
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) guarantees students with visual and learning disabilities access to educational materials in a format they can use. Because of this, for more than 30 years, Congress has supported services, including RFB&D, for students who are blind, visually impaired or who have learning disabilities that prevent them from reading standard print books.
Unfortunately, the future of that support is uncertain. Congress is currently deciding on education funding levels for FY 2011, and significant cuts are being considered. We need your help to ensure that Congress continues to support the current funding for accessible textbooks, including RFB&D.
We need you to act today to protect your access tomorrow!
In the next few days, Congress will be making critical decisions on funding programs like RFB&D. Your United States Senators, Richard Durbin and Mark Kirk, are key leaders in education funding. We need you to add your voice of support to the debate!
Please e-mail Senators Durbin and Kirk today and tell them to continue funding for accessible materials!
Use the sample below to write a personal e-mail to your Senators. Take a moment to add your personal experience with RFB&D. Your personal perspective makes any e-mail more powerful and much more likely to gain the attention of your Senators.
Time is critical and your support and immediate action is necessary. Please e-mail your Senators today!

Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,

RE: Urgent Support Needed For Students with Print Disabilities
Dear Senator Durbin or Kirk,
I am writing to share with you my support for Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic® (RFB&D®). As a _____________, I use the accessible textbooks and materials from RFB&D to < please describe here how you use RFB&D and some of your personal experience>.
RFB&D has a long-established relationship with the Department of Education and has had broad, bi-partisan support in Congress for its programs. I urge you to continue that support with stable funding in the Technology and Media Services line of the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education appropriations bill, and to direct the Department of Education to direct those funds to a competition for the production and distribution of accessible content.
RFB&D has been a critical partner in the success I/my students/my child has/have achieved, and federal support for their efforts, leveraged with private philanthropy, has made much of their work possible. Without RFB&D's services I/he/she/ they would not be where they are/ I am today.
Sincerely,
