Subject: [Chapter-presidents] Announcing the Back to Basics
2011Membership-Building Seminar

Chapter presidents:

Do you want to learn some new ideas for strengthening your chapter? Do you
need some new icebrakers to spice things up? Would you like to know how to
solve some of your transportation problems so that more people will be able
to come to your meetings? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions,
then join the Affiliate Action Team as we present our fourth-annual Back to
Basics membership-building seminar in Orlando!

BACK TO BASICS: FOUNDATIONS IN MEMBERSHIP AND CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT

When: TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2011, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Where: Panzacola G-2 Ballroom, Level 1
(Note: The agenda says that the seminar will be in Panzacola H-2, but it has
been moved to Panzacola G-2, which is right down the hall from H-2.)

Topics: replacing agenda-driven meetings with project-oriented meetings,
mechanics of running a chapter, building membership, fundraising, Federation
philosophy, and using at-large chapters effectively. Special recognition
will be given to chapter presidents.

Many ideas will be presented. Here is just one example:

A fun icebreaker can help chapter members get to know each other in an
entertaining, upbeat way. Try this icebreaker, called the Hog Call, at your
next chapter meeting. Hog Call Description: The group breaks off into pairs.
The pairs must decide on an animal or machine they would like to be. Then
everyone is mixed and using only the sounds the animal or machine would
make, the pair must reunite.

Find out about twenty-four more icebreakers and learn about many more tools
that can help you build your chapter at the 2011 Back to Basics seminar. See
you there!
