That's incredible, it would be hard to ignore that!

Hmm, Connie, that would have been a good time to employ that travel-size can
of pepper spray.

This is to all of you, who have posted back on-list, privately and
have called. Thank you all so much!!!
I'm going to clarify this. I was walking outside, pulling a grocery
cart full of groceries, using my cane in front of me. Two young men
were walking toward me. It was like we were playing chicken. One of
them moved without comment. The other was not willing to move out my
path, even though it would have been easier. When I didn't move, he
called me a whore. What upset me was that it wasn't an appropriate
response to the situation. It's just a word, but what the heck? Does
that make sense?

Honey, ignore them and get around it by going to customer service and
ask for assistance! And decide what store will give you that! For me,
Trader Joes!

One of my biggest challenges in using a cane is going grocery
shopping. I take a grocery cart and pull it behind me while using my
cane. For some reason people think that I should get out of their way
when I am walking with a loaded cart. They just keep walking right in
my path. I had a guy swear at me today because I didn't move. I just
ignored him.
But I mean, how do you deal with that? It seems that I deal with peoples'
rudeness on a daily basis. Sometimes, I feel like they do it because
they see the cane and figure I won't know that they've done it.
Connie
