[il-talk] Sound Equipment Question

Pardon me, Mr. Gardner and/or other list moderator if this seems
off-topic, but I have a sound malfunction which is preventing me from
streaming audio onto a server. My Edcast encoder works perfectly when
connected, but when I tested it on a dummy server, the listeners would
hear my voice but they couldn't hear the music playing in Winamp. I
had Winamp and the microphone routed to a USB headset and JAWS speech
running through my main speakers. Yeah, OK so I'm too cheap to afford
a mixer and a standard mic with an XLR input. But Byron has assured me
that broadcasting from a USB microphone running as its own sound card
can in fact be done. So what is my problem? Or is it the fact I'm
using the wrong output plugin? Is the Edcast DSP plugin a good
solution, or is there something else I need? I plan to go live this
coming Tuesday, so any help from some of the more advanced NFB techies
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
