[il-talk] Upcoming Pace hearings

Good Grief! Is Pace's already customer-unfriendly reservation and
decentralized dispatch system so expensive that they have to threaten
fare increases or service reductions if they can't whittle it down
further? If their hours of operation were the issue, they could
consider simply reducing staff during off-peak hours, allowing internet
or email-based reservations, or setting up a voice mail box in the
evenings. Voice recognition would make it possible for fewer humans to
need to review those messages. I would imagine that PACE has figured
it's possible to run fewer buses if the ability of people to reserve
rides can be choked back.

Cordially,
Bill
