Subject: upcoming events!

Please take note of these exciting Paralympic sport opportunities coming up in the next few days:

1. Celebration of International Paralympic Day with the Variety Club and dare2Tri at Northerly Island on Thursday, September 8 at 3:30pm. Come and cheer on the two young athletes who will receive the surprise of new equipment to make their ParaTriathlon goals a reality. Athletes will also be practicing their transitions from cycling to running. A GREAT way to celebrate the international day of recognition for Paralympic eligible athletes!

2. On Saturday, September 10 at 5:15pm, GLASA hosts its 4th annual 5K Twilight Run, Walk and Roll through scenic Lake Forest. Awards will be presented to athletes who use racing chairs, handcycles, personal wheelchairs, guide runners, and the able bodied folks as well. It is CARA certified and a great post-party is provided. More information is attached and available here .

3. On Saturday, September 17 at 8am, WSSRA is hosting its annual “Makin’ Tracks” 5K at Concordia University in River Forest. Athletes with disabilities are encouraged to participate in this fun event and accessible course! More information is attached and available here.

4. On Sunday, September 18 at 1pm, the dare2Tri ParaTriathlon group is partnering with the Chicago Park District to host their first “Try-Athlon” at Shabbona Park. More information is attached. The distances are very beginner friendly—“short” and “shorter”, the swim will be done in a pool, and there are relay teams for those who are not ready for all three sports. Registered athletes will get a t-shirt, event bag full of goodies and finisher’s medal. Come out and be part of the filming of the new fall ABC series “Everyday Health Heroes” during the race!

Looking forward to seeing you at these fantastic events in the very near future!
