Hmm. I'll have to check those out. Thanks for the idea.

I personally prefer answering the phone with the ear buds. IN that way you
press eht center part to answer and disconnect. The other sides of the ear
bud wire are for volume. And Voiceover will continue to talk while you are
on the phone on a call unless you can turn it off.

My voice isn't exactly clear enough for that. Um. I just think it's going to
take some practice. I played with it a little bit ago and am finding that my
fingers aren't small enough or some options are too close together. IDK. I'm
figuring it out though and it excites me. I haven't had a need to make a
phone call yet, but I'm wondering how I'm going to be able to find the
answer button and be able to hear Voice Over with the phone ringing. Maybe
just put it on vibrate? I do have one problem. The double tap to open is
delayed or something because when I hit "Phone" twice it does nothing but
repeat "Phone double tap to open." So then I'm forcing my finger to shake
over "Phone" in hopes that it opens. Sometimes it opens, but most of the
time it repeats it self. LOL! Is there something in settings where I can
slow down the double tapping?

Try using Siri as much as you can if you have dexterity problems.

More? Oh boy! Whatever do you mean? Do you think if I bought a cover it
would help? IDK. I'm new at this.

There is a lot more to it than that.

I hope so because when it says double tap to open, it's like I have to
force my fingers to shake semi-violent and hope it hits thethe app I want.
Someone on one of the other mailing lists sent me a recording of him using
his I Phone. He made it sound so easy. Like once you hit a number on the
keypad and it's one you want, then just touch anywhere else on the screen.
He said Voice Over is only concerned with the last thing you touched.

There may be an accessability setting that may help you.

I'm slowly getting it. LOL! I have shaky wrists that cause my fingers to
shake. So it's a little harder for me. Anyway. My uncle is an Apple expert
and he lives close by. Thank God. He turned on Voice Over for me. I just
moved from Elgin to Quincy.

Nicole, I hope the store set Voiceover for you through settings, general and
accessibility. When the phone freezes, sometimes it's best to shut down
altogether with the power button which is on the top right. You have to hold
it down for several seconds. You also hold it down for a few seconds to
power back up and it takes a good minute in my experience for the phone to
power back up again. The home key which is the round one at the bottom of
the phone is your go to key for lots of things. I made you an offer of
someone to help you. And yes, a lot of us who are totally blind use and love
the phone. It does take work at first.
Sharon

I can’t figure out how to unlock the screen. It’s stuck on the camera. My
son tells me the screen is gray. All it does is click at me. Which button is
the power button? Ugh! I’m so lost. I just got the phone today, for my
birthday. Can all blind individuals use one?
