[il-talk] New I Phone user

Nikki,

Let me suggest an alternative method.

Instead of double tapping. Find the key or button you want and hold your finger on that key. Then tap anywhere else on the screen with a second finger.

Let's say you want to strike the letter "a". Find and hold your finger the letter "a" while striking somewhere else is being with the second Finger.

The second finger you use can be from either hand. Whichever is more convenient.

This method also is very convenient for unlocking your phone. Place one finger on the unlock slider at the bottom of the screen and then strikes somewhere else on the screen with the second finger to unlock your phone.

I hope these tips help you out a lot. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.

At one point I changed the layout from landscape to portrait and I didn't even know how I did that and it totally confused me. LOL! I can't seem to double tap fast enough. Is there a way I can alter that? Why do things move on you? It's weird.Maybe it's my fingers double tapping somewhere else and I don't know it. LOL! I really want to master this and show my mom she didn't waste her money. Just pray for me please.

I played with it a little bit ago and am finding that my fingers aren't small enough or some options are too close together. IDK. I'm figuring it out though and it excites me. I haven't had a need to make a phone call yet, but I'm wondering how I'm going to be able to find the answer button and be able to hear Voice Over with the phone ringing. Maybe just put it on vibrate? I do have one problem. The double tap to open is delayed or something because when I hit "Phone" twice it does nothing but repeat "Phone double tap to open." So then I'm forcing my finger to shake over "Phone" in hopes that it opens. Sometimes it opens, but most of the time it repeats it self. LOL! Is there something in settings where I can slow down the double tapping?

When the phone freezes, sometimes it's best to shut down altogether with the power button which is on the top right. You have to hold it down for several seconds. You also hold it down for a few seconds to power back up and it takes a good minute in my experience for the phone to power back up again. The home key which is the round one at the bottom of the phone is your go to key for lots of things. I made you an offer of someone to help you. And yes, a lot of us who are totally blind use and love the phone. It does take work at first.
