A Million Laughs for Literacy!
Comedian Paul Reiser, entertained NBP supporters at this year's A Million Laughs for Literacy Gala. Hands On! Awardee, Karen Keninger, Director of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), declared that "it is now braille's turn" to be the focus at NLS.
Harvard freshman, Juna Gjata, wowed the crowd with her piano performance of Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin and her impassioned speech about learning the braille music code. Juna has been a supporter of NBP since she was she was a child in this NBP video.

Jay Hooley reads to pre-schoolers in honor of Blindness Awareness Month
To celebrate Blindness Awareness Month in October, NBP hosted a reading event at the North End Public Library in Boston. Local pre-schoolers listened to stories from NBP's print/braille books.
Print reader, Jay Hooley, CEO of State Street Corporation, read What a Bad Dream by Mercer Mayer and Froggy Learns to Swim by Jonathan London. Braille reader, Juna Gjata, read Marvin K. Mooney by Dr. Seuss and the perennial favorite, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. These books are available at the NBP Bookstore in the print/braille format for all readers!
