Pardon my run on sentence because I am using voice dictation on my phone I for one have been welcome back into the NFP chapter although I am NOT a quote young person but I think that some of these people who believe they are closed mainstreamed are not acknowledging there blindness as an identity I believe they are fooling themselves they can have both worlds they need the N FB as a backup they need BFB for the backup NFB is a civil rights organizations that the young people fail to realize that maybe they feel that discrimination is over wall discrimination toward blind people is far far far from over and maybe they live in some fantasy world no all of you Illinois people know that Mr Hansen is a radical type person but I will be the first to tell you there are a lot of people with some crazy ideas about us and we need to do our part and step it up and let these young people know that there is still rampant discrimination and that they need to stop being negative they need blindness positive attitude many times their so called mainstream saviors are blind this negative they need the NSB to mentor them and to support them to encourage them and they can have leadership there's too much blindness negative attitudes 30 our community and it is up to the blind people that are established in the NFL be to enforce a blind this positive attitude and that's what is going on the younger people are so cynical and that is really unfortunate cynicism leads to extreme negative thinking I really love this in part by taking my sociology courses we need more blindness positive thank you sincerely Robert Hansen radical

My local chapter is just that way, it's like a social status: if you don't have fund raising skills or money you don't fit in. I've seen many members in my local chapter come and join and attend a couple of meetings then drop out, it's not for them, like Bob said, many younger blind people really don't feel the need for membership in either the ACB or the NFB because they are mainstreaming into the sighted world, the ones who stay in the ACB or NFB have been there a long time to keep things going, but what are we going to do when our current today's leaders die off or drop out? The reason why blind people aren't joining is they can't take over because of the ones that are in the ACB or NFB those leaders are afraid to let newer younger people in. It is a power issue, there is a lot of insecure blind people in the ACB and NFB who really don't know how to let go and move on and let others learn and grow. I may drop out at the end of this year because of the way the local chapter president treats some of us. I don't need the stress, aggravation, criticizing and judgmental attitude towards me or anyone else. I've put with it for 30 plus years. That's a lot of why both groups are having trouble getting new and younger members.
