Dear NFBI Family,

I have some wonderful news to share that may not be news to some of you,
but I wanted to share nonetheless.

This summer has been an absolute dream for me. It all started with
presenting my senior honor's thesis and then graduating from Northwestern
University with a Bachelor's of Science in Education and Social Policy.
While this was going on, and throughout the summer, I had the amazing
opportunity to intern for the National Disability Rights Network in
Washington, DC (this is why you did not see me at Chicago chapter meetings
this summer.).

My goal of the summer was to obtain a full time position in Washington, DC.
On the last day of my internship, I had an interview at the National
Office of NFB. I was hoping to obtain a fall internship there in the
policy and advocacy department because, as you guys know, I love
legislative stuff. I thought an internship would be very educational, and
hopefully I could help NFB at the same time!

However, when I went in for an interview, Dr. Maurer asked me: Why are you
looking for an internship position and not a full time position? Long
story short: I was offered a full time position as a Government Affairs
Specialist in the policy and advocacy department of NFB, and I took it. I
will begin working there on September 23, 2013. Needless to say, I am very
very grateful and excited for this opportunity!

Thank you, each and every one of you, for all of your support throughout
these past four years. You, as an affiliate, never stopped believing in me
and have taught me so much. I am looking forward to working on NFB
initiatives at the national level. Sadly, this means I will not be as
active in the Illinois affiliate. I will miss you all.

BUT! I will be at the state convention this coming October. I am looking
forward to seeing you there.

All the very best,

Rose
