[il-talk] another computer issue

Rob, no problem. That's what NFB is all about; to support each other. I
know what you mean about the lists really coming in handy. There are many
times I've felt that way, especially right after I had Michael and when I
brought him home from the hospital. Glad the teacher is willing to work with
you and that she gave you what you needed in a word doc. Michael's
preschool teacher is the same way. She sends me her weekly newsletters in a
word doc so I can read them, but still sends home a print copy with Michael
for my husband to read. Sometimes, she doesn't have a particular handout in
a word doc and in my case, I can just have my husband read it. So keep on
keeping on. Take care.
Leslie

Thanks. The teacher sent me the infor ina word document. I was able to read
it fine. Breann's teacher seems willing to really work with me. She seems
really caring.

It is so great, however, that we have resourses out here that can help in
situations like this and others.

In the past few weeks, I have had many issues silimar to this. These
listserves have really come in handy.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me.

Rob,

Is your daughter's teacher a government employee? If not, is her private
school funded by the government? If yes to either of these questions, she
has a legal obligation to provide information to you as a parent in an
accessible format that you can read. Consider informing the teacher of your
disability and how she could communicate with you in an effective manner.

Teachers in private schools also have an obligation to communicate
effectively with people with disabilities. The obligation is not as strong
though.

Kelly
