Nick,

If you are able, please call me at 708-209-1767 or email me off list. I
would be interested in addresses of the locations of which you speak.

Also, if you have not done so already, check the classified adds in the
Forest Park Review. Their website is www.forestparkreview.com.

Hey there. I lived in Forest Park for three years and I think it's an
excellent place to start out. My apt was on Marengo, 2 blocks west of
Harlem and Madison. There are two blue line stops you can use, one at
Harlem and the Forest Park stop which is on Des Plaines and I don't remember
the cross street. Dave Meyer would know more of the particulars. My
husband and I loved living there because it was so nice to just hop on the
el and go downtown. There were restaurants and shops in walking distance.
Our favorite was the Brown Cow, which is an ice-cream parlor on Madison. I
remember there was a Jimmy John's not too far from us. At the time, our
life style was such that we could just go downtown on a moment's notice. I
worked at the Lighthouse at the time so the commute there and back wasn't
that long either. I just hopped on the Green line, got off at Ashland/Lake,
and got on the Pink line which took me to Polk where I got off and walked a
few blocks. I remember that from the Blue Line Forest Park station, I would
be waiting for my bus to go home and I remember there was some bus that went
to Hein's. I'll let you know if I come up with anything else. I'd suggest
talking with Dave Meyer too since he lives in Forest Park. Good luck and
please keep us posted.
Leslie

Hello,

I've met a few of you at the July Chicago Chapter meeting, and some others
on the August At-Large Chapter call. That being said, greetings from
Maryland. I am ready to be back in Chicagoland! However, I am currently
without perminant residence in the area.

A little background, I work at Hines and take the blue line into work on a
daily basis. After doing some research and seeking suggestions I believe
that the Forest Park area would be a great starting point in terms of
settling down. I have been told that this area offers reasonably priced
living with a plethora of opportunities to create a nice social life (i.e.
shops, eateries, ect.).

I have come across two listings that seem logical, but admit I am unfamiliar
with the lay of the land. One is on West Harrison near a mall, baseball
fields, and tennis courts. This is only a block from blue line transit.
The other is on Harlem 8th. The listing gives little description.

My goal is to return to Chicagoland to an apartment in the middle of
October. Any feedback regarding neighborhoods and location would be a great
help. Please feel free to respond in thread or off line with any
suggestions or tips. Thanks for the help!
