Hello All:

ICB Praises Walgreens for its initiative, announced today, to make
prescription information more accessible to people who are blind or visually
impaired. More details available in the Press Release at
www.acb.org/walgreens. We, together with our parent organization, the
American Council of the Blind and our state affiliate colleagues in the
California Council of the Blind commend Walgreens for bringing increased
prescription information access choice to the market with the launch of the
Talking Pill Reminder. Walgreens is an Illinois-headquartered company, and
the largest pharmacy chain in the United States. Individuals who are blind
or visually impaired can request the Talking Pill Reminder when they get
their prescriptions filled either at their local Walgreens Pharmacy or
through the Walgreens Prescription Mail Order service. This device features
an audio recording of the prescription information, and a timer that if the
user chooses to use it, will alert the user when to take their medication.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is why ICB is in business, to help improve the
quality of life for Illinois citizens who are blind or visually impaired.
Providing independent access to prescription information, so that
individuals don't have to rely on others and compromise their privacy and
independence is a huge part of our mission. Every ICB member should be very
proud of the work we have done which has led up to today's announcement.

If you or others need it, please ask for the Talking Pill Reminder when you
get your Walgreens prescriptions filled. If you have any issues, please
contact Walgreens Customer Service at 800-walgreens (800-925-4733),
extension 4. This is a voice number. Please pass this information on far
and wide to others who can benefit.

Thanks,

Ray Campbell, Past President, Illinois Council of the Blind
