Clarification on Free Currency Identifier
In our September issue of Making Sense, we listed the phone number for ordering your free currency reader through the National Library Service. When calling, please make sure to dial “888” and NOT “800.” The correct phone number is 888-NLS-READ or 888-657-7323. After dialing, follow the prompts choosing the option of “libraries.” You will be asked to leave your name and phone number, then your state. This will connect you to your state’s library system. Leave your name and phone number on the voice mail, making sure to speak clearly and slowly. Following this process will put your name on the list to receive a currency identifier. If you have already made this call, there is no need to call back, your name has been added.

If you live in Illinois, you can call the Talking Book Outreach Center at 800-426-0709.

If you live in Chicago, call the Talking Book Center at Harold Washington Library at 800-757-4654.

You can expect to receive your new currency identifier by the end of 2014.
