At Large Chapter Minutes

 

January 4, 2015

 

Those present included:  Danny Mandrell, Linda Hendle,  Bill Reif, Jemal Powell, Sid Winer, Christopher Watkins, Leslie Hamric, Charlene Elder, Denise Avant, Dan Tevelde, Chris Milsap, Gina Falvo, Dave Meyer, Gary Jones, and Kayla James.  There were fifteen people present for this meeting.

 

The meeting came to order at 7:10 PM.  Sid moved to approve the minutes,  as corrected, Dave Meyer seconded the motion,, and the minutes were approved.  

 

Denise gave the State Report.   There will be a State Board meeting on January 20at 7:00 PM.  The number and code are  (805) 360-1000 Code 6324.  The Legislative  agenda  for Washington Seminar will be the Teach Act,and the Fair Wages For Workers With Disabilities Act, the Time Bill.  When fact sheets for our bills are available, they will be listed.  The dates for the Seminars are April 17 for Teachers of the Visually Impaired and April 18 for parents and students.  

 

Volunteers will be needed for the Bell Programs. The Bell Committee will be meeting sometime in the middle of the month.  The second Bell program will be held in Springfield the last week of July.  

 

The hotel information for National Convention is at the nfb.org website.  

 

This is the last day for the IPad Mini raffle.  The drawing will be at Game Night on January 10.

Leslie played part of a speech from Dr. Jernigan called “The Nature Of Independence.”  Since it was hard to hear, we will hear the speech at a later date.   Discussion followed after a short summary of the speech.  

 

Our next meeting will be February 1 at 7:00 PM.

Linda moved to adjourn and Danny seconded the motion. 

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM.
