NFB Illinois Transportation Committee,Activities for 2014

1. We worked with CTA to increase the volume on Ventra machines.


2. We worked with CTA to put opening and closing door chimes on the next 
rail car order.

3. We worked with Illinois Council of the Blind (ICB) and others to improve 
communications between the blind community and CTA.


4. We and others in the blind community met with City of Chicago 
Transportation planners to discuss Transit Signal Priority, techniques for 
blind people to cross streets, as well as Accesible Pedestrian Signals.


5. We are working with the City of Chicago to ensure nonvisual access in 
back seat communication devices in taxicabs.


6. We are working to stop discrimination against blind people who use guide 
dogs in taxicabs.


7. We passed a resolution calling on ride share companies to follow federal 
and state nondiscrimination laws.
