Hello All:
It is a great day. Yesterday, I accepted a new position with United
Airlines. I will be working with United to help them with getting their
website and mobile apps to be accessible to people with disabilities.
United and other airlines are mandated by the Air Carrier Access Act to make
part of their website accessible by December of this year, and their entire
site accessible by December of 2016.
I will be working 40 hours per week on-site at United. Yes, this does mean
returning to commuting to Downtown Chicago, but I'll be working in Willis
(Sears) Tower, just a 3 block walk off the Metra commuter train. While this
position is, initially, a six month contract, there is a high likelihood
that there will be extensions. Also, in interviewing with United, they have
a limit on how long they can contract with people, so I believe there is a
good possibility that I could, eventually go full time which is my overall
objective. Of course, that's contingent on my doing a good job which I, of
course, intend to do.
Just wanted to share this exciting news with all of you. While I do need to
pass a background check and drug screening before I can start, I don't
expect that to be a problem. I'll be starting October 6, assuming I clear
those things.
Thanks,
Ray Campbell
