Subject: Please Contact Your Legislators
Hello Fellow Advisory Committee Members,
As you know, Illinois State Library Director Anne Craig met with us on December 11 during our quarterly meeting. At that time, she discussed the budget situation and how it impacts the Talking Book and Braille Service. She stressed that the budget for the talking book program had NOT been cut, however due to the budget impasse, none of the funding for the TBBS had been appropriated. This means that no funds are available to support this program.
Director Craig suggested that we contact our local legislators and request that the funding for the talking book program be appropriated.
I hope you have been able to do this. I believe, that as a member of the Advisory Committee, each of us needs to do our part to support this important service for all print-impaired readers in Illinois.
Thank you for making this a priority.
Larry
