NFBI CHICAGO CHAPTER

MEETING OF DECEMBER 10, 2016

The meeting was called to order by Second Vice-President Jemal Powell 
at 12:00 noon.
What’s Happening: Bob Widman asked that we keep Congressman Danny Davis 
in our prayers. Melisa Fuller will be graduating from her business 
program on January 8. She will be beginning a business venture next 
year. Mary Grunwald will be beginning a program at L.A Fitness. There 
were 23 people present.
Presidential Reports: Due to technical difficulties, we were unable to 
have a National Presidential release. In state Presidential matters, 
Denise Avant reported on the following. The dates for Washington 
Seminar will be January 30 through February 2, 2017. Patti Chang, Steve 
Hastalis, David Meyer and Jemal Powell will represent the Chicago 
Chapter. The next state board meeting will take place via conference 
call on December 15 at 7:00 PM. The call-in number is 641-715-3273 with 
the code being NFBI, (6324.) Brian Mackey is now our new webmaster. 
Denise thanked Byron Lee for the many years of service he gave in this 
capacity. The Illinois Scholarship application is now on the website. 
Students have until March 31, 2017 to get their applications in. Please 
let students know about both the National and the state scholarship programs.

Treasurers Report: Steve Hastalis gave the treasurers report for the 
third quarter of 2016. Beginning balance July 1, $5,294. Income, 1,684. 
Expenses, 300. Ending balance, September 30, $6,678. The report was 
approved as presented.
Secretary’s report: It was moved and seconded to approve minutes of the 
September 2016 meeting. The motion carried.
Under old business, Chairman Powell mentioned that Games Night would 
occur immediately following the January 2017 chapter meeting. The cost 
for this fundraiser is $25. All participants will enjoy salad, soda and 
pizza. If you have a favorite game, please bring it. Please have 
reservations into David Meyer by January 9.
NFBI Raffle. Winners of the 2016 raffle were as follows. Geovani 
Franchaese $200, Bob Meyer, $300 and Gordon Kent, $500.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:48 PM.
