  Deal reached to REPEAL Beverage Tax in Cook County

 

Dear NAMA Members:

 

It has been announced that a deal has been reached to REPEAL the Cook County Beverage Tax. 

Per the Associated Press, Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison stated that he and 11 colleagues have reached an agreement to end the tax, giving them enough to override a veto by Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. If the repeal vote is passed, the tax will end on December 1. The Board's Finance Committee is scheduled to vote on the repeal ordinance next Tuesday, October 10 and the County Board will vote on final passage next Wednesday, October 11.
