Here is Don Gilmore's obituary from the September 18, 2017 issue of the Chicago Tribune.

 Death Notice: DONALD GILLMORE. Donald Gillmore, 74, died on September 13 at his home in Chicago after a lingering illness. His loving wife Pamela was by his side. He is also survived by nephew Jerry Gillmore and cousin Terry McCullough. Don grew up in southern Illinois, where he enjoyed hunting and working on cars. After high school he worked at a series of jobs, including auto mechanic and watermelon picker. In 1968 he took a job with the state of Illinois, managing supplies for patients at Manteno Psychiatric Center. He moved to Chicago in 1975 when he accepted a transfer to Reed Psychiatric Center. In 1977 he married Pam Klein, and they enjoyed forty happy years together. Don loved hard physical work, and he never let his visual impairment slow him down. In the 1980s he served as president of the Prairie State Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Illinois. A private memorial will be held for family and friends.
