Below please find the notes from our last BELL meeting. I am sending them so
everyone finishes their tasks. This also serves as a reminder that we meet
again next week. Meeting info is below.

 

BELL committee meeting 

NOTES from March 28, 2018 7:30pm

 

 

Present Patti, Amy, Debbie, Bill, Lewis, Chaquita, Kaytea, Julieta

Absent: Cathy Sarah  Emma and Denise 

Lighthouse confirmed for July 9 to 20

First Christian church in Springfield confirmed for July 30-August 3

Chicago Hotels booked

Springfield hotels still needed. Patti to do this. 

(This is now done. We are at the Northfield Inn and Suites.)

Advertising of the BELL programs needs to be more active.  Advertised on
NFBI.org.  How can we get more Press on this? 

 

Lauren Mihalic is coming back for the summer BELL

Brooklyn will be a new TVI that is currently working with Amy.  Brooklyn
will be graduating this year. Good personality and enjoys the young
children.  Great asset for our program.

 

Action Items:

Fliers are done- 

Debbie Stein- Make calls to families

Divide up list so other committee members can help with phone calls.  Send
scripts to people making phone calls.  Kaytea, Julieta, Bill, Chaquita.

 

Bill- needs list of families to call.  Bill can reach out to Horizons for
advertising.

 

Chaquita- will start making phone calls

 

Amy- mini grant.  Get volunteers registered and names sent to lighthouse.
Brooklyn will also need background check.

 

When making phone calls:

BELL program is available in both Chicago and Springfield.  Families can
register for both programs. Applications are available online.  Ask older
kids what they are interested in doing and tell them about Freedom Link and
Student Seminar.  

Debbie mentioned that scripts are available for use when making phone calls.
It is nice to have a script but do not need to stick to only the script.  It
is used as a guideline but be friendly and courteous.

 

Amy updated about registration:

Ten families registered, five in Springfield and five in Chicago.  Annabelle
will attend a different full-time program more appropriate.

Field trip ideas:

Amy has called for the Kayak trip.  May change to inside location or an
inlet on the river.

Patti to call Sarah about Judo class.  

 

Continue to Meet once a month.  Make phone calls.  Next meeting April 24,
2018 7:30pm. Reminder will be sent out. Call 641 715 3273 and use code
