For your information, most audio-described programming on CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox airs during prime time. However, those stations (except for Fox) also provide audio description on Saturday morning educational programs, most of which target children.

Mitchell, to be honest, though I have enabled audio description on my X1 remote, I've rarely heard it anywhere. Maybe I just don't watch enough TV which is probably true!

Hi Everyone,

I have recently been experiencing audio description problems on CBS 2 Chicago. I get CBS through X1 from Comcast. When available, I hear audio description when I stream CBS using the Xfinity Stream app on my iPhone, but it does not come through on my cable box, even though I have enabled the feature. I don’t have this issue on any other channel that offers audio description and/or other secondary audio programming.

Have any of you who live in the Chicago market and watch prime-time television with audio description enabled experienced this problem? I have reached out to Comcast’s accessibility help line, but the agent was unable to help. I also contacted CBS 2, after which the problem was fixed for a few days (I’m not sure how, because CBS did not get back to me), but the issue soon resurfaced.

That being said, before I pursue this matter further, I would like to know if any of you are experiencing the same issue, whether you watch TV through Comcast or a different cable or satellite provider. If you have not had a chance to test out the secondary audio track on CBS, the station should be providing audio description during tonight’s episode of NCIS-Los Angeles, which starts at 9:00 PM. If you are available and willing to do so, I would greatly appreciate if you could check if audio description is coming through and get back to me, as that could help me determine if the problem is with Comcast, CBS, or, perhaps,  a setting on my cable box. Thank you in advance for helping me resolve this issue.
