Greetings Everyonel,

Due to time constraints, at the Chicago Chapter meeting last Saturday, I was unable to give an update of the CTA ADA Advisory meeting on October 9th.

The head of CTA security, as well as, a representative from the Chicago Police Department were present to give a presentation regarding safety on trains and buses. The primary message was to always be aware of your surroundings and protect your personal belongings. All train cars and buses have surveillance cameras which allow security to play back all activity at any given time. They also gave a telephone number and email address for CTA's security services. Customers can report all non emergency activity. The telephone number is 312-681-2911 and email is ctasecurityservices at transitchicago.com

They are also in the process of developing a way customers can report activity on trains and buses, without having to alert the driver or press the emergency button on each train car. You will be able to send a text to the security services while the activity is in progress.

The full report of CTA's All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP) can be found on the website under the accessibility tab. As you may know, this program was rolled out by the Mayor and CTA, in the summer, to make all train stations accessible for all people with disabilities over the next 20 years.

If you haven't visited the accessibility page on CTA's website, I encourage you to do so. There is a wealth of information that can be beneficial for you while traveling the trains and buses in Chicago. The website is www.transitchicago.com<http://www.transitchicago.com>
