[IL-Talk] Announcing the start of the Chicago Lighthouse Fall 2019 Job Club series

Dear Clients and partners,

We are pleased to share the start of our Chicago Lighthouse fall job club series. Individuals who would benefit from these sessions are encouraged to join us for these weekly sessions as part of job readiness. Please see the announcement below and a flyer is attached for your reference or to share. Those who attend are not required to have an open case with DRS, or a referral with employment services.

to Job Club is a weekly series of meetings where participants are exposed to networking opportunities and practice interviewing and other job readiness skills. Special presentations are held on topics of interest to people with vision loss, other disabilities or Veterans such as Social Security, public transportation and money management.

The sessions will be held at the Chicago Lighthouse, 1850 W. Roosevelt Rd. Chicago, IL 60608. Sessions are from 1:30-3:30pm.

Below is a list of the upcoming dates and their topics. Once speakers are secured, those details will be shared as well.

September 23:  Employment Goals: Focusing your job search

September 30:  Marketing Yourself

October 7:  Social Security Benefits and returning to work

October 14:  Financial Literacy and managing your new income

October 21:  Resumes, Cover Letters & Job Applications

October 28: Federal and State employment for Veterans and individuals with a disability

November 4:  Disability Disclosure

November 11:  Interview preparation and Mock Interviews

November 18:  Transportation Options and getting around

December 2:  Assistive & Adaptive Technology

December 9: Job Retention
