Dear Ayoub,

Taking short notes, even on complex information, probably uses the same notetaking skills one would use in a college class. For instance, in the sentences you gave, you could jot down "allergies usually no severe symptoms, maybe nasal congestion, sore throat, minor difficulties breathing. Sometimes severe, allergenic asthma." You can develop your own shortcuts for words used a lot, such as symp for symptoms.

Thanks for reaching out. I am using my MacBook. And I use voice over on Mac. Problem is with speed. Interpretation is consecutive, meaning I interpret between two people who are speaking in different languages. Since it is medical interpretation, I am not permitted to make any additions or omissions at all. So, for example, as the doctor is speaking, I need to take short notes so that I would remember the details before I interpret them into Arabic and speak them to the client. I don't think I know how to take short notes. I don't want to make this long, but again, for example, how do you take short notes for this sentence dr.: allergies usually do not cause severe symptoms, you might experience some nasal congestion, a sore throat, minor difficulties in breathing. Sometimes, symptoms can become severe, we call that allergenic asthma. I need to interpret all of that not missing any of the details, specifically the symptoms into Arabic. I can rely on my memory, my memory is pretty strong. However, if the sentence becomes  longer, I start to lose some of the minor details which drops my scores on the assessment. I would love to learn braille, I plan on doing that the moment I graduate, that happens to be in August. But for the time being I need to find a way to practice learning how to take short notes quickly and efficiently, notes that means something to me when my computer reads them back. Do you think that you have any advice on that?
