State Services for the Blind has an opening for a braille specialist. The

Duties Include:
1.  Proofread by touch the braille transcribed by the 35 Communication
Center volunteer braillists who use the Perkins six-key brailler and
computer-generated braille software programs, so that K-12 textbooks,
college materials, and adult-requested braille books/materials are accurate
in content and conform to the national regulations outlined by the Braille
Authority of North America.
2.  Proofread by touch the braille and tactile graphics produced by the
Braillists who have typed/scanned print into computers and translated it
automatically into braille with computer-generated braille software
programs, so that braille produced for blind Minnesotans is accurate in
content and conforms to the national regulations outlined by the Braille
Authority of North America.
3.  Be knowledgeable of the current national braille codes and rules
employed in the transcription of books from print to braille and provide
consultations on these regulations to agency braillists who transcribe
braille using the Perkins six-key brailler, and computer-generated braille
software programs, so that the national regulations governing braille
production are uniformly interpreted and staff and volunteers receive
clarification of these regulations as needed. 
4. To carry out projects and other assignments as delegated by the Braille
Supervisor.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of 19 lessons of the "Instruction Manual for Braille
Transcribing, UEB Edition, 2015" within one year.
Certification of completion of a two year proofreading course from the
Library of Congress or ability to obtain within one year. 
Ability to operate the Perkins six-key brailler and computer-generated
braille software programs..
Knowledge of computers and word processing so that proofreading reports can
be generated.
Ability to communicate clearly, cooperatively and courteously with staff,
volunteers, consumers, educators and the general public.
Ability to work under tight deadlines.
CANDIDATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR BRAILLE SKILLS DURING THE
INTERVIEW PROCESS.
All braille transcriptions are produced in accordance with Braille Authority
of North America (BANA) regulations and in agreement with BANA guidelines
outlined in the "Braille Formats, Principles of Print to Braille
Transcription, 2016" and "The Rules of Unified English Braille Second
Edition, 2013".
