[IL-Talk] Windows 11

I would contrast this with Apple which extensively promoted accessibility during its spring and summer worldwide events. The events were audio-described and it was clear Apple has a commitment to accessibility despite its shortcomings. I think Microsoft is losing its luster. If I needed a new computer I would take a look at the Apple environment. Based on my experience with iOS what Microsoft offers is getting more stale.

If people really need to upgrade to windows 11 I suggest using a separate computer. Freedom Scientific says JAWS will be supported in Windows 11 and I'm sure this is true. I also learned from the latest Freedom Scientific podcast that there will be a new version of JAWS. Let's hope the current version still works with windows 11. At least windows 10 will be supported for five more years. From what I have read Windows 11 is being marketed to consumers rather than businesses so businesses don’t' have an incentive to upgrade. I might give Windows 11 a try if I can get another computer.

Microsoft has said next to nothing about accessibility in Windows 11.
What it did say was extremely general with lots of virtue signaling.
No one outside the company knows much about the new OS because beta builds of Windows 11 have not been released. That will likely happen this week, according to Microsoft. For a full discussion, check out Jonathan Mosen’s podcast over the weekend. He discusses it with a blind corporate IT specialist and a blind screen reader developer who previously worked on Microsoft’s accessibility team.
