This years convention was a great convention. As I was listening it hit me
that each president brings something special in running a convention. I
believe this year that Marilyn's special quality was the way she was able to
keep things light and lively throughout the weekend. It is also nice to see
younger leadership beginning to evolve. So long as we continue to evolve, we
will continue to remain strong.

Dear Illinois Family,
Congratulations on an outstanding convention!  It was so nice to be able to
be with you - even if virtually - this weekend.  I really enjoyed hearing
the voices of people I haven't gotten to see in a while like Bill and Mary
Lou, Pam G and Pam P, Steve H, and Dave Myer and so many others.  It was
amazing hearing the sounds of home - Cathy encourage members to give and
sharing her wisdom, Debbie working with young people and families, Denise
problem-solving and Patti telling us what we need to do to make things go
smoothly.  It was awesome hearing people I've known since they were little
like Sara and Ellen and Michael and Justin - who probably don't remember me
at all - as they grow into big Federation roles and become the face of
leadership in Illinois.  And of course Marilyn knocked it out of the park
this weekend - and you couldn't tell she was new to this role at all.

The Illinois affiliate will always have a huge place in my heart, and I'm so
grateful to have been able to spend some virtual time at my first Federation
home and with my first Federation family this weekend.  I hope next year
maybe I can be there with you all in 3D.
