Hello all:
As you know, NFB of Illinois, the Illinois Council of the Blind and Equip
for Equality have been trying to bring electronic ballot delivery and
electronic ballot return to Illinois for our elections. Illinois citizens
can request a vote by mail ballot in our state without giving any reason.
Blind, low vision, and print disabled voters are simply requesting the
bility to have the same right as sighted citizens to vote privately and
independently by using our own assistive technology. As the result of
legislation passed by the Illinois legislature, there will be administrative
hearings before the Illinois Board of Elections on November 3 in Springfield
and November 10 in Chicago between 2-4 PM. There is a Zoom option below for
those of you who cannot appear in person. Please see the below link provided
by EFE. You can also submit written comments. You can find that email
address under the news section of the Illinois Board of Elections website.
Thanks.
Denise Avant, ESQ
1st Vice President
National Federation of the Blind of Illinois
