Minutes of meeting held Sunday, May first, 2022

The meeting began at 7:09 PM. Members Present: President David Meyer, 
Vice President Linda Hendle, Secretary/Treasurer Bill Reif, Marilyn 
Green, Leslie Hamric, Kyle Chellino, Danny Mandrell, Yvonne Agyarko, 
Pat Olson, and Jemal Powell. Visitors: Eileen Truschke, Michal Nowicki, 
and Ken Schad.

Kyle moved, and Linda seconded, that approval of the April minutes be 
tabled. The motion passed.

Bill, Dave and Debbie Pittman prepared an application by which past and 
current Chapter members can apply for assistance to the NFB National 
Convention provided through funds recently obtained through our popcorn 
fund raiser. Our treasury is now $1,413.16, consisting mostly of funds 
so raised. Those who need an application or assistance in completing it 
can call Dave Meyer at 708-606-7091 or email him at 
datemeyer at mychero.net. The application will also be made available via 
the il-talk or IABS-talk listserves. Leslie suggested that people shop 
sites including orbits.com, travelosity.com, cheaptickets.com or 
through United or Southwest directly. She also reminded dog users 
planning to fly to convention that it is now necessary to complete an 
application that will allow them to bring their service dogs. One must 
also be completed for the return trip. Dave mentioned the Southwest 
Airlines has a number through which persons with disabilities can 
register. Jemal mentioned that for those who may not want to pay the 
over $300 air fare from Chicago, Amtrak's  City of New Orleans still 
serves the area.

The April Presidential Release was not presented as its information is 
now dated. The May Presidential Release will be presented live on 
Monday, May 2nd and will be available on the web.

Marilyn presented the State Presidential Report. Chappel applications 
for National Convention financial assistance are available at 
www.nfbofillinois.org and can be submitted through midnight tonight. 
Convention Registration deadline is May 31st. The registration deadline 
for either the Marriott or the Sheridan is June 1st.

The NFBI face-to-face Board Meeting will be August 27th at the Chicago 
Marriott Naperville. State convention will be 10/29 through 10-30 2022. 
There will be some preconvention activities. Further details will be 
distributed as plans develop.

Chicago bell will be June 18th through the 29th, with the springfield 
bell August first through the fifth. BELL at Home runs concurrently 
with Chicago BELL.  Debbie is still looking for participants and 
mentors for each program. Those interested in helping will need to 
submit to a background check if they have not had one in the past year.

Discussion of chapter contributions was deferred to our June meeting, 
by which time we know whether anyone is seeking assistance to National 
Convention.

Next meeting will be Sunday June fifth at 7:00.
