Actually we did have to go to the high school. And then he had the experience of warming up in the warm-up room where there's a whole bunch of other people warming up at the same time. And then, he had to go to another room and play. It all brought back memories of when I did solo and ensemble.  Thanks for your kind words. He actually got a one and everything and one is the best score that you can get. Ironi ironically, Michael was also the only sixth grader that participated in the contest. And back when I did it, I was the only one from beginner orchestra who participated. I was only in third grade at the time.
